The World Premiere of Touch Grass by Christopher York will tour to UK schools and theatres in Spring 2027.
Steen has switched off his phone, put it in a shoebox and buried it in his mum’s back garden.
A whole month since xo_BB_ox last logged on, Steen fears the worst. With no phone and only £7.20 in his young savers account, Steen embarks on a coast-to-coast search for a best friend he’s only known as an online avatar.
Based on conversations with young people across the UK through our Future Makers process, Touch Grass is the trip of a lifetime, travelling through friendship, the toxic influence of the manosphere, and nostalgia for an unplugged life never lived.

Christopher York is one of Theatre Centre’s Resident Writers. Over the next year, Touch Grass will be developed through conversations with young people in schools and community groups across the nation through our Future Makers process.
Christopher York is a playwright from Scarborough, North Yorkshire, winner of The Holden Street award, HighTide's First Commission's Award and a finalise of both SkyArts Screen/Play and Adopt a Playwright Awards.

Touch Grass - School Bookings
Ideal for Year 8 to Year 11
Touch Grass is created specifically to tour into secondary schools around the country, at subsidised rates.
Schools that book Touch Grass receive the exact same professional production that tours into venue, alongside a range of curriculum resources that support Drama GCSE, BTEC Performing Arts, English and PSHE Studies. Additionally they receive free access to the playtext and filmed production, and a 15 minute post-show discussion led by the cast.
A 1 hour devising workshops led by our exceptional cast is available for an additional cost.
