Christopher York

Resident Writer

Christopher York is a playwright from Scarborough, North Yorkshire. His debut play ‘Build a Rocket’ won The Holden Street award and was Richard Jordan of The Stage’s “Best New British Play of the Year”. Christopher’s adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘The Pit and the Pendulum’ received critical acclaim during its runs at both Omnibus Theatre and Oxford’s historic Convocation House. The Stephen Joseph Theatre commissioned his play ‘All Delighted People’ that celebrated 40 years of youth theatre in Scarborough. A winner of HighTide’s First Commission's Award and a finalist of both SkyArts Screen/Play and Adopt a Playwright Awards; Christopher’s short plays include ‘212’ (The Bunker), ‘Seven People’ (The Arts), ‘A Million Little Hands’ (The Vaults) and ‘Jimbob’ (The Arcola).

One of Stockroom’s resident writers, Christopher was a co-writer of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ (Liverpool Playhouse & Theatre Royal Plymouth), ‘Influence’ (Riverside Studios & Collective Theatre) and Dead Air (Riverside Studios)

Christopher is a co-writer of the 2026 release ‘Logos’, a compendium to Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XVI.
