Tour Producer (freelance)

We are currently seeking a freelance Tour Producer to join our team. Starting in summer 2026, the Tour Producer will be responsible for all aspects of our upcoming 2027 touring production and will be the main point of liaison for internal and external colleagues and venues.

The Producer will work closely with the Executive Director/CEO and with the Artistic Director. You will be responsible for finalising tour booking (where necessary) and line producing our school and venue tours from pre-production through to rehearsal and tour. You will also work alongside the Programme & Admin Co-ordinator and Marketing Manager.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Contract type: This will be a fixed-term, freelance contract. Start and end dates TBA.

Working Days: We anticipate approx 55 working days throughout this period. 

You will plan and agree your own schedule in consultation with the AD and ED with a suggested spread of days as follows: 

  • July – September. 15 days. Pre-production & design 

  • October – December. 15 days. Pre-production & design 

  • January. 15 days. Rehearsals, tech & open 

  • February. 4 days. Touring 

  • March. 4 days. Touring & returns 

  • April. 2 days. Settlements and evaluation 

Salary: £13,500 equating to approx 55 days at £245 per day, July 2026 – April 2027.

Travel & Accommodation: In addition to the fee, Theatre Centre will book and pay for: 

  • train travel to Sheffield and to touring dates, as required 

  • accommodation in Sheffield and any on tour, as required 

  • We will also make payments for meal allowances / subsistence equivalent to the current ITC rates. 

General: We are open to exploring different ways of working e.g. you might be work alone as a freelance Producer, you might have your own company or share the Brief with a Producing colleague you work with regularly. Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance applies.

PROCESS

Your EOI will be read by at least two people who will shortlist the people we would like to meet. We’ll invite selected candidates to a short preliminary meeting on zoom to get to know you and vice versa, and to select who we’d like to invite through to the second stage. This will be a meeting in person to take the conversation further (we will pay for any train travel). 

Due to limited capacity, we can’t undertake to give feedback to people we don’t invite to meet but would be very happy to have a chat and give feedback for unsuccessful candidates following each of the meeting stages.
