The Border by Afsaneh Gray is a brand new commission by Theatre Centre, on tour to school and venues across the UK from Sept-Nov 2019.
Life is turned upside down in one small town as East Oolia shuts the border with West Oolia, dividing here from there, us from them, this from that despite all the fruit tasting the same. In the midst of it all, Stranger, Julia’s beloved dog, has gone missing. Will Stranger be found before the border closes, or will she be trapped forever on the “wrong” side?
The Border is a high energy outrageous Brechtian parable that explores the lines we draw between ourselves and other people. The production will feature original songs and a live break-out debate where one girl, her dog and the audience will find their voice – and their bark.
We are looking for an ensemble of four actors – 3 female and 1 male – for the world premiere of The Border by Afsaneh Gray. The ensemble will play numerous roles across age, race, gender and species. We are therefore looking for generous actors who are versatile, flexible and able to make strong choices in characterisation. All the actors will be required to sing as an ensemble and have a competent level of physical ability. Download the full casting breakdown on the right.
Please send submissions (CV and photo) for casting to firstname.lastname@example.org with Casting in the subject line by Thursday 11th July 2019.
