Human Nurture by Ryan Calais Cameron
Human Nurture is a tale of race, allyship, privilege and vulnerability. In this devastating final moment, Roger reveals to Harry a childhood memory that changed the way he viewed his ‘friends’ forever.
While watching this scene, consider:
How does the performer playing Runaku express his hurt and pain when speaking?
How does the performer playing Harry react, why?
What is the effect of this moment on the audience?
Content warning: References to racism.
Human Nurture was produced in 2022, and the cast in this production were Lucas Button as Harry and Justice Ritchie as Runaku. Find out more about Human Nurture here, or buy the playtext.
