Laughter from the Other Side by Noël Greig was commissioned by Theatre Centre and first produced by the company in 1986.
Two young boys, Royce (a local boy) and Jo (from an English ex-pat family), are exploring the natural playground of India when Jo announces he is leaving to go and live on the other side of the world. This devastates Royce, and in turn awakens the attention of the Mouldies, Antonia and Sandra, whose lives as souls in the underworld mirror that of the boys. Jo moves back to England protected by Sandra who has decided she is a “guardian spirit”, whilst Antonia watches over Royce.
