As part of Theatre Centre’s Authentic Voices Programme, professional writers and Young Apprentice writers from Morpeth and Oaklands secondary school collaborated with Shakespeare and Bengali writer Takbir Uddin to create a contemporary play – “I Love You, Lets Foot It” written in modern verse. A tale of the Olympics, terrorism and young love.
The project was running alongside the national tour of “Romeo in the City” by Amber Lone.
These plays were performed by professional actors at the Unicorn Festival.
"I felt that 'I Love you, let’s Foot It’ truly reflected the participants’ voices – I felt we heard the true reality of young people in East London today…. the quality of the writing astounded me and the imagery they created was really in-depth."
