We heard the sad news about Philip Osment’s death last week. Philip is an important figure in the history of Theatre Centre, integral to its radical and pioneering work in the 80s and 90s. He was a writer, director, dramaturg for the company over many many projects and productions.
His plays for Theatre Centre include Wise Guys and Little Violet and the Angel. His seminal play for Gay Sweatshop, This Island’s Mine is poignantly receiving its first revival by Ardent Theatre Co. at the Kings Head in London. He last worked with the company for the 60th Birthday Writelines Conference when we invited him to share his expertise with fellow writers and delegates. He was generous in his art and sensitive in his writing. We will post a longer more fitting tribute in mid-June. His funeral will take place at Oval House in Kennington on Sunday 23rd June at 2pm.
