The Littlest Quirky
by Naomi Cortes
Age advice: 4+
''It is fascinating to see the young audience become more deeply involved. They were guiding them en masse with shouts and pointing fingers that showed how fully they had become engaged.''
Howard Loxton, British Theatre Guide
'‘It’s unusual to see something that has both scale and substance. The children were enthralled the whole way through-fab.''
Teacher
A vivid tale of magical discovery, fusing the art forms of physical theatre, puppetry, clowning and playwriting. Theatre Centre has created a vibrant production, with a dash of the Brothers Grimm and a sprinkling of Tim Burton’s gothic charm.
Have you ever met the Littlest Quirky?
She comes from a magical circus family
She lives in the house at the top of the hill
And locked in all day, her life has no thril
Watching her closely are Tree, Wind and Rain
And they hear her ask again and again
"Why can't I go outside" and they know she's upset
So, they take her on a journey she will never forget
In receiving the commission, Naomi commented: "I’m delighted to be working with Theatre Centre and creating a new play for children full of magic, adventure and discovery. I look forward to collaborating with other artists in realising the imaginative world of The Littlest Quirky on stage, and seeing her story come to life."
