Our Shows

New writing made with and for young people

Every one of our shows is commissioned from a trailblazing playwright who spends time in Future Makers spaces, listening to the ideas and conversations that young people are having. Through our Future Makers process, these writers collaborate with young people across the UK, listening, questioning, learning, and developing ideas with them, making our shows vibrant, relevant, and totally of its time.

Recent shows include Birds and Bees by Charlie Josephine (I Joan, Shakespeare’s Globe) and Human Nurture by Ryan Calais Cameron (For Black Boys..., West End and The Royal Court), both made in co-production with Sheffield Theatres. Over our 70-year history, we’ve commissioned work from leading writers including Roy Williams, Benjamin Zephaniah, and Sabrina Mahfouz.

Our latest show Wish You Weren’t Here by Katie Redford toured to venues and schools in spring 2024, co-produced with Sheffield Theatres. Our next show, Dizzy by Mohamed-Zain Dada, tours to schools and venues in autumn 2024.
